Since 1995 VGF has been awarding an annual Young Producers’ Prize for the best film by a young film producer. An independent body assesses the German cinema films that are submitted with reference to the criteria of outstanding quality and recognisable audience relevance.
The prize carries a value of 60,000 euros, making it the most highly endowed prize for young film producers in Germany. The prize money comes without ties, and serves to boost the capital resources of young production firms.
The VGF Young Producers’ Prize was previously awarded on the occasion of the awarding of the Bavarian Film Prize. For its 25th anniversary in 2018, the prize was awarded for the first time at the International Hof Film Days (23 to 28 October). In doing so, VGF underscores its commitment and that of the Hof Film Days to fostering the work of young producers.
NEW application deadline: 30 June 2019
